Kraken/ The Sea Monster, 2023

Hvitsten Salong, 2023

Inspired by Theodor Kittelsen, a Norwegian artist renowned for his illustrations of fairy tales and legends, particularly those featuring trolls, this work explores the mysterious world of Norwegian folklore. During my time in Hvitsten, a coastal town surrounded by the sea and forests, I was inspired by the atmosphere of the landscape and its connection to Kittelsen’s artistic world. Being there encouraged me to imagine mystical creatures and dreamlike stories hidden within nature.

Through this work, I imagined a Sea Monster emerging from the depths of the sea, somewhere between reality and fantasy. The creature reflects the mystery of the natural environment and the sense of wonder found in traditional folktales.
