Escape Playground (2024)

During my stay in Greece, Escape Playground developed from a period of solitude, unfamiliar surroundings, and self-reflection. Being away from my usual environment created an opportunity to slow down and reconnect with myself, while reflecting on the relationship between my past experiences and who I am in the present.

The work consists of soft, colourful, hand-sewn fabric forms that represent comfort, care, and emotional connection. Their rounded and flexible shapes create a sense of softness and playfulness, while their bright colours introduce a feeling of warmth and openness. Rather than being fixed sculptures, the forms can be touched, moved, and reshaped, allowing the viewer to influence the arrangement and experience of the work.

The title Escape Playground refers to the idea of creating a temporary space away from everyday pressure, a place where one can pause, explore, and reconnect with oneself. Through softness, colour, movement, and physical interaction, the work invites the viewer to engage at their own pace.

For me, the work reflects the possibility of finding comfort through simple physical experiences. It explores how materials can create an atmosphere of care and how touch can encourage moments of calm, play, and personal reflection.
