Yam: Ceramic Prayer Wheels (2024-2025)
The Thai word “Yam” means “guard” or “protection,” giving the Pra Jam Yam pattern a symbolic connection to safeguarding. Traditionally found in sacred spaces and architectural decoration, the motif carries both visual and spiritual significance.
In this series, I reinterpret the pattern through ceramic forms, using repetition to create a sense of protection, continuity, and calm. The tactile surfaces encourage slow, direct engagement with each piece.
By bringing the Pra Jam Yam motif into a contemporary context, I explore the relationship between cultural heritage, material, and personal identity, transforming a traditional symbol of protection into a quiet space for reflection.
